Byron Avenue: Island Park Drive to Holland Avenue
Island Park Drive to Holland Avenue
The City of Ottawa initiated the Byron Avenue Area Traffic Management (ATM) Study in May of 2010. The study aimed at addressing traffic related concerns along the section of Byron Avenue, between Island Park Drive and Holland Avenue. The main focus of the study is speeding and inappropriate driver behaviour.
The first Public Open House was held in June 15, 2010. The purpose of the Public Open House was to present existing data regarding traffic conditions, and seek input with respect to traffic issues from the perspective of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, motorists, as well as area residents.
During the Byron Avenue ATM study process, a potential to provide additional cycling facilities on Byron Avenue was brought forward. Currently the City of Ottawa is investigating appropriate cycling facilities on Byron Avenue.
It was considered to be best to put the Byron Avenue ATM study process on hold until the type of cycling facilities being proposed is more clearly defined. Once the type and extent of cycling facilities on Byron Avenue is finalized, the City of Ottawa will recommence the Byron Avenue ATM study process.
