The City of Ottawa welcomes you to the first of two Public Open Houses for the Alta Vista Drive Area Traffic Management (ATM) Study.The study will examine alternative solutions to address traffic related concerns by local residents on the section of Alta Vista Drive between Bank Street and Smyth Road.
The purpose of this Public Open House is to:
- Introduce the project and study team.
- Seek input with respect to traffic issues from the perspective of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, motorists, as well as area residents and businesses.
- Share study findings as they relate to data collected to date.
Your comments are welcomed and are very important to this study.
Traffic Issues Reported by Local Residents
- High vehicular traffic volumes
- High commercial vehicles, in particular trucks, on a non-truck route
- Blockage of residential driveways by vehicular queues
- Difficulty of making left turn movements from side streets and private driveways onto Alta Vista Drive
- Vehicular traffic speeding
- Aggressive driving behaviour and running of red lights
- Ineffective pedestrian crossing markings at controlled crossings
- Pedestrian crossing safety within the vicinity of schools
- Incomplete pathway linkages serving the schools
- Noise and air pollution associated with traffic movement and stop-and-go operations

Where Do We Go From Here?
A second public open house is anticipated to take place in early spring of 2009. At this public open house, preferred alternative solutions will be presented. We look forward to your attendance and participation at that time.
