Economic Strategy UpdateThe City of Ottawa is in the process of updating its Economic Strategy, which was approved by City Council in 2003. The update, which is being led by a nine-member steering committee of community leaders and City Councillors, will provide direction and priorities for economic development policy and programming initiatives through 2015. The updated strategy will better prepare the City for coming challenges in the local, national and global economy, will explore areas of the existing strategy where there are opportunities for improvement, and will continue to build on the City’s track record of delivering high-quality programs and initiatives that support the local economy, small business and entrepreneurs. The City consulted with residents and stakeholders from the business community, as well as a wide spectrum of other communities, including cultural, social, academic and agricultural. The updated strategy will be presented to Corporate Services and Economic Development Committee and City Council in July 2010. |
