Rural Summit II - Building on Success

Ottawa’s Rural Summit II is an opportunity for rural residents, and representatives of rural organizations from across Ottawa to come together to discuss ways to improve networking and continue to build on the strengths of our rural communities.
As a result of Ottawa’s first Rural Summit in 2005, many initiatives have been implemented including:
- Established a Rural Affairs Office and hiring the City’s first Rural Affairs Officer
- Broadband Internet access for all rural communities
- Toll free calling across Ottawa
- Launched the Rural Connections web site

Although many positive steps have been taken since the first Rural Summit, the City of Ottawa is committed to improving its service to Ottawa’s rural communities. This is reflected in the theme for the second Rural Summit – “Building on Success”.
Ottawa’s Rural Summit II will be held on April 5, 2008 from 9 am to 4 pm at Confederation High School and will focus on the broad issues surrounding life in rural Ottawa and address some of the main issues identified during the community consultation process.
